Welcome to Part 1 of Beth + Nick’s Virginia Beach “Just Because” session. Most couples don’t think about having their portraits taken every year, like you see families with children do. I feel it is just as important to document this part of your life and am glad Beth + Nick feel the same way! It is a good excuse to put on some fancy-smancy clothes, get your makeup professional done and play model for a few hours with your beloved.

This is also a very special post for me. I met Beth a year and a half ago in a frozen yogurt shop. I had recently moved to the Hampton Roads area and was looking to do more second shooting at weddings. I e-mailed a few other established photographers and Beth was the only one to respond. You can check out her fabulous work here. We spent a couple of hours chatting over frozen strawberry yumminess and have been photographer buddies since. I have been fortunate to shoot with Beth at several weddings and get to know her on the professional side. Her generosity has been invaluable. Beth has also become a dear friend and am so grateful to have been able to get to know her better this past year. It was nice to get to know Nick a little better, too. His humorous personality was finally starting to peep out. As you may imagine, I was pretty nervous when she asked me to photograph her and Nick. Honored, but nervous. Soooooo nervous that the whole week before I was joking with her that I was trying to think of a good excuse to postpone! Even though the session is over, I am still having anxiety about her seeing the images (she hasn’t seen them yet)!

They decided on two locations and two outfits (which I love that they wanted to mix it up). I give all of my couples that option. Part 1 was Town Center in Virginia Beach. A little urban oasis. Part 2 will be on tomorrow!
