Who can say you were married on a football field, had a fife and drum ensemble escort your guests from cocktail hour into dinner or had a tent sprinkled with chandeliers to bring a little glam to your reception? Cody + Shanna can. Their wedding in Williamsburg was full of fun and unique details for their guests to be wow’d with. This stylish duo met while attending the College of William and Mary. Cody played football and Shanna was a cheerleader. Pretty safe to say their love of athletics brought them together and it was only naturally for their ceremony to be on the field of Zable Stadium. They are the very first couple to do so, too. I didn’t know photographing a ceremony in a football stadium was on my bucket list until I walked in. Gave me chills. Such a cool experience!

I have to say, my favorite experience for me that day was an emotional one. So much so I started crying uncontrollably. Cody & Shanna opted for an anniversary dance, instead of a bouquet/garter toss. Shanna’s grandparents were the last couple dancing and have been married the longest, 62 years to be exact. The real emotional part came immediately after. Shanna had planned for the DJ to play her grandparent’s song and have a special dance for themselves. They were so shocked by this gesture that grandma started crying. Grandpa then started singing to his bride and that is when I lost it. I looked over to my left to see that Shanna started to cry, too. Tissues all around! A moment I will never forget.

From Shanna’s gorgeous Hayley Paige gown to the beautiful, pink draping and chandeliers in the tent this wedding was a stunner from start to finish.
