This is part one of two from the French country inspired editorial shot for The Hanging Gardens in Smithfield, Virginia. The shoot was full of soft oranges and pinks. Viktoriya created a stunning bouquet that complimented the flowy BHLDN gown. Surrounding us was a serene country landscape of open fields with tall grasses and barns off in the distance. I hope these images inspire a color palette for your wedding day! The perfect modern mood for fall.
I shot this both on medium format film and digitally. There were a good amount of images from both methods and made the decision to split it up into two parts (you can view the all digital part two here). This was also a great opportunity to showcase the difference between the two formats. Part one, below, highlights the film taken at the shoot. Images were captured with a Contax 645 on both Fuji 400h and Portra 800. Shooting film always catches me off guard when I start the first roll and I can’t look down to see what it looks like. There is no screen! I am always up for a challenge and shooting film really forces me to slow down. I find that I enjoy the process so much better from start to finish. Nothing is better than hearing a ding from my email that the scans have come in from the lab.
