I met up with Gloria + Bill a few days after Hurricane Matthew left many trees down and roads flooded in the Hampton Roads area. I was a little apprehensive about what the Norfolk Botanical Garden was going to look like after such a storm. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the garden was in wonderful shape! A tree or two was down but they were open for business. Having such strong winds and rain a few days prior I was shocked when we came upon a single hydrangea still in bloom. And it was purple, to boot (Gloria’s favorite color). What was really special was there happened to be a beautiful butterfly sitting on this single hydrangea.
