You may remember Carolyn+Pete from their wedding (check in out here). Instead of an engagement session they asked to do an ‘after the wedding’ type of session. Something a little styled in their wedding day attire. Even though I do like the engagement session to get to know my clients before their wedding day, I thought this sounded like fun. I love styled shoots, working with couples and shooting in new locations so I was all for it! They recently moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. I had never been there before but had heard good things about that area. Because their wedding was in the city they met, they wanted this special shoot to incorporate the beautiful landscape of where they are starting their lives as husband + wife. What is even more special is that they wanted to incorporate some of the wedding gifts they received on the table. They are both such thoughtful people.
Pete is a chef (can’t wait to go eat at his restaurant next time I am in Charlottesville) and food was another part of their lives they wanted to incorporate into the shoot. Pete made the dishes and I got a little tasty preview while I was chatting with Carolyn, who was getting her makeup done. Deeee-licious!
They chose Ash Lawn-Highland as their shoot location. It was the home of President James Monroe. I could not have been happier shooting there. It was absolutely beautiful. A little bit formal garden, a little dash colonial, with a beautiful mountain view. Seriously, the perfect place!
